“Famous Nathan”

 Documentary, closed captions, 86 minutes

Kosher Hot Dogs & all the trimmings will be sold for $3.00

A portait of the life and times of Nathan Handwerker, the Coney Island Hot Dog King, once a penniless Polish Immigrant who amassed a great fortune. Filmed by Nathan’s grandson using family photos, home movies, and archival footage, a complex, not always loving view of a family in transition emerges. Interviews of dedicated workers with strong opinions, and wistful memories provide humor.

“Terrific documentaries are a dime a dozen; one this multifaceted is to be cherished.” – Village Voice
