The Big Dig  (Blaumilchkanal)
1969 classic Israeli satire of Ephraim Kishon.
Hebrew, English subtitles, 95 mins  Black/White

An escapee from a mental institution begins jackhammering the busiest intersection in Tel Aviv.  City officials, rather than question, assume “his work” is under bureaucratic orders, and actually aid him, despite residents whose lives have become a living hell. A superb comic satire, one of Kishon’s best.
