On the eve of taking holy orders as a nun, Ida, raised since infancy in the convent, learns she is Jewish, daughter of Jewish parents’ killed by the Nazis.  Ida begins a quest to discover life outside the convent and to find out who she is.  She meets a Jewish aunt, gets a boyfriend, but is unprepared for uncovering a hideous chapter in Poland’s anti-Semitic past.
